*DDC reviews the implementation of Bio Medical Waste Management in the district*
DODA, September 23: District Development Commissioner Doda (DDC) Dr Sagar D Doifode today reviewed the implementation of Bio-Medical Waste (BMW) management and handling here in the district.
Principal GMC Doda Dr Tariq Azad,ADDC Doda, CPO, CMO, Medical Superintendent District Hospital (DH) Doda, Tehsildar Doda, District Officer State Pollution Control Board (SPCB),Adminstrative Officer and AD planning GMC Doda,EO Doda, Thathri, Bhaderwah,and various concerned officers attended the meeting.
The DDC oversees the implementation of Bio-Medical Waste Management and handling at the district level.
The DDC highlighted the importance of Bio-Medical Waste Management for reducing the serious health implications. He directed the MS to start digging the pits in coordination with MC Doda in the already identified land according to the set rules/guidelines within two days and start burial of the waste,besides directed the health authorities to shift the already installed incinerator from the DH to the land identified by the revenue authorities for the proper disposal of the waste within 10 days positively.
They were further directed to conduct awareness programs for the health staff to ensure the proper implementation of the Act, especially for ensuring segregation of Bio-medical waste from other solid and liquid waste in health institutions as per set guidelines.
The MS and DO (SPCB) was also directed to explore the possibility for Bio-Medical Waste (BMW) management at local level in consultation with agencies working in capital cities for the purpose within the month and submit the action taken report in this regard within the fixed timeline without any fail.
