Distribution of Fresh Vegetables to 2000 ICDS beneficiaries by ICDS Thathri

DODA, APRIL, 11:- Child Development Project Officer Thathri Sh. Mohit Bharti informed that a “Kitchen Garden Scheme” is being voluntary run by around 150 Anganwadi centres of Sub Division Thathri for last few months. 

 

In this scheme, a small vegetable garden is maintained by Anganwadi worker/helper in the backyard of Anganwadi centres where fresh vegetables are grown and provided in cooked form to ICDS beneficiaries as a source of supplementary nutrition.

 

Under the guidance of Mtr. Shahida Parveen, District Programme Officer, ICDS Doda, around 2000 ICDS beneficiaries of Thathri were provided fresh vegetables through this scheme at their soor steps by the field functionaries. The move was widely appreciated by Panchayat representatives and general public.

 

Mtr. Shahida Parveen hoped that other ICDS projects of District Doda follow this innovative so that more ICDS beneficiaries could provided fresh vegetables as a source of supplementary nutrition at least once a week along with other nutrition supplements.
