As a part of the ongoing 32nd National Road Safety Month, District Development Commissioner, Doda Dr Sagar D Doifode, today flagged off a Walkathon-cum-Awareness Rally, here at DC office Doda.
The DDC flagged off a Walkathon (walk for awareness) under the theme “Sadak Suraksha-Jeevan Raksha” in which students from different educational institutions, drivers,Police, officers and officials of District Administration and MVD participated.
The Road Safety Walkathon started from DC office Doda, and culminated at TRC near Dak Bungalow, covering a distance of around two to three (02-03) KM.
Speaking on the the occasion the DDC stressed on the importance of Road Safety and imbibing it as a way of life and not confining it to a mere slogan.
The DDC urged all the stakeholders to follow all the necessary safety measures and traffic rules while travelling, besides asked them to be the ambassador of road safety campaign so that the aims and objectives of the ongoing Road Safety Month besides awareness regarding various traffic rules/parameters shall reach in every corner of the district on priority basis.
The DDC also expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the MVD and Traffic Police department due to which the district has recorded not only the decline in fatal road accident’s but also in accidental deaths i.e about 69%.
Earlier, Assistant Regional Transport Officer,Er Kuldeep Singh, while welcoming the DDC and other guests highlighted the series of events to be organised during the Road Safety Month. He said that different programmes like Health checkup for drivers, bike rallies,Symposium, walkathon rallies etc. will be held during the month long campaign at all levels e.g at Tehsil level,Sub division level which would benefit all sections of the society.
Later on DDC alongwith SP operations distributed refreshments among the participants at TRC.
The others present during the program are ADC Doda Kishori Lal Sharma,SP operations, ACD Doda Prem Singh Chib,CPO Doda Parshotam Kumar, District Treasury Officer,Ex En PMGSY Doda,Dy SP Traffic Pankaj Sudan, DIO Doda Mohd Ashraf Wani ,DSWO Doda Zubair Ahmed Lone,EO MC Doda besides other officers/officials of various departments.
