Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today visited Doda district and reviewed various development works and welfare schemes being executed in the district in a meeting held with the district administration.
During the meeting, District Development Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode, apprised the Advisor of various schemes and mega projects under implementation in the district by various departments in detail, besides highlighting achievements in various sectors including various intiatives initiated by the District Administration e.g Zimedari Ek Ehsas in education sector,Kartvya Humaray Buzurg Humari Pehchaan and Iraada in social sector,Doda Film festival a youth engagement program etc.
While reviewing the progress in PMGSY,the DDC apprised the Advisor that the district has got the second rank across the country in term of the maximum BT road length achievement,for which the Advisor appreciated the efforts of District Administration for working relentlessly to ensure that the set targets are achieved in stipulated time frame.
Regarding Mgnrega,14th FC and PMAY- G,the DDC apprised the Advisor that district has achieved more than 100% target in PD generation last year, and keeping in view the last year progress,the set target for the district is 39 lac out of which more than 30 lac PD’s are already generated, adding to this 12609 set target of PMAY are already geo-tagged and construction of houses are ongoing on war footing, besides Informed that approximately 52 Cr funds are already sanctioned to the panchayats under 14th FC for various works which were identified by the panchayats itself.
The Advisor lauded district administration for showcasing extraordinary performance under 14th FC fulfilling the objective of real strengthening of Panchayati Raj structure, besides asked the concerned to consult the PRI members before the finalisation of PMAY beneficiaries list so that gap can be avoided to ensure smooth implementation of the noble scheme.
Regarding mega ambitious projects like Goha Khaleni- Sudhmahadev road, the DDC apprised the Advisor that all the documentation have been completed, and land has been acquired under New land acquisition laws which is going to benefit the beneficiaries 4 times more in comparison to the earlier land laws, besides regarding High Altitude Medicinal Plant, DDC said that the construction work on many related buildings are ongoing at war footing basis.
Highlighting the importance of both the mega projects,the Advisor said that due to the persistence efforts of Hon’ble Union MOS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and UT administration of J&K these mega projects are sanctioned to the district which are going to be the vital attractions and game changer to boost the local economy and tourism potential of the district.
The Advisor directed the CEO Doda to appoint three four trained teachers to work out the reasons of dropouts especially of girls and to finalize the findings so that the issue can be resolved at earliest.
The Advisor also directed the Agriculture authorities to give special focus on the organic farming in the district, and to widen the vision in agriculture sector by taking the PRI on board to promote local produce in adjacent markets so that local vegetable growers shall be made more prosperous, adding to this the Advisor directed the concerned to revive the olive farming across the district.
Similarly for Horticulture department,the Advisor informed that the local produce of apple of Doda especially of Bhaderwah area is of superior quality which shall be promoted at National level and shall be recommended for GI tagging on priority basis.
While describing the tourism potential of the district, the Advisor directed the concerned to utilise the services of the candidates who have already gone through the training especially in skiing courses to promote the skiing at the potential areas like seoj dhar, adding to this he said that district has unique topographic identity which can be utilised for trekking. He directed sports department to utilise the services of the private players and other candidates so that trekking can be promoted to generate avenues of the employment of the locals.
Meanwhile the Advisor appreciated the district administration for conducting free, fair and incidence free DDC elections, besides congratulated the district administration for working tirelessly to speed up the developmental scenario of the district.
Advisor also released an amount of Rs 18.61 lakh sanctioned under various schemes of Building and Other Construction Worker’s Welfare Board in favour of 220 beneficiaries.
Later on Advisor met various delegation’s which includes DDC members, BDC Chairperson’s, PRI members, Representative’s of MC Doda, Bhaderwah, Representative’s of various political parties, Delegation of NYC’S which highlighted various issues of public interest e.g timely payments of MGNREGA liabilities, pending land compensations, engagement of local man power in the mega projects, supply of safe drinking water, regularisation of NYK volunteers, filling of vaccant posts in education revenue and municipality department, curtailment in unscheduled cuts, upgradation of power Infrastructure, cold storage facility at Doda, opening of bank branches at far flung areas etc. The Advisor paid patient hearing of all the genuine issues and assured timely redressal, adding to this Advisor earlier met with the public at Thathri to listen their grievances.
