*DDC Doda reviews implementation of District Road Safety Plan* _53% decline in fatal accidents and 69% in deaths recorded in the district from last year_

Doda, January 12: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Doda,Dr Sagar D Doifode who is also the Chairman, District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) today reviewed the implementation of “District Road Safety Plan” here at a meeting.
 
The DDC emphasized that road safety is a matter of immense importance and enhancement of safety by way of formulating a comprehensive action plan, therefore, deserves priority attention of all the stakeholders.
 
He also discussed the modalities for organizing different awareness cum informative events during the National Road Safety Month starting from January 18 across the district.
 
The DDC took detailed appraisal of the Action Taken Report at the meeting attended by the SP operations Doda,CPO Doda,CMO Doda,CEO Doda,ARTO Doda,EX En PMGSY Doda, PWD Doda, Bhaderwah, DIO Doda, besides other officials of the concerned Committee.
 
Discussion was held on various agenda points including strategy & reduction of road fatalities, audit of road segments prone to accidents, Black Spots and rectification, enforcement of traffic laws, strengthening of Highway patrolling,  installation of crash barriers, maintenance of bridges, checking of overloading and over-speeding of public buses, status and mapping of ambulances on NHs especially near trauma hospitals and training of staffs.
 
DDC directed the Ex En PWD Doda to conduct the road safety audit of national highway from 9th km upto Thathri,Xen PMGSY Thathri to conduct the audit of road from Thathri to Gandoh, besides directed the Xen PWD Bhaderwah to conduct the audit of road from Doda to Bhaderwah.
 
He stressed for immediate action for identifying black spots, initiating remedial measures, installation of signages, painting at appropriate black spots, generation of awareness etc for making the roads in the district safer.
 
While reviewing the status of fatal accidents occured this year, DDC expressed overall satisfaction and lauded the efforts of the concerned by bringing down the rate of deaths occurred due to accident to 69% and 53% fatal accidents in comparison to the last year.
 
Directions were also issued to Municipalities, traffic and motor vehicles department for identification of parking spaces in their respective towns to enable enforcement of complete ban on roadside parking.
 
While reviewing the disbursement of relief among the accident victims, DDC immediately passed on the directions to the CMO to compile the required documents and to  sent to the concerned authorities within the fixed timeline so that they can be send to the highest quarter for appropriate action.
 
Besides while reviewing the identification of land for the construction of scrap yard vehicles for ARTO office and Police department including driving test facility, DDC was informed by the Tehsildar Doda that the 30 kanal state land has been identified in the adjoining area of Doda, DDC directed both the agencies to place the indent before the authority so that documentation shall  be doner and accordingly send to the concerned quarter’s for further course of action.
