District Administration Doda is ramping up its Mission Mode Stance for agricultural production with special focus on making the farmer’s of the district “Atmanirbhar” as well as special focus is being given on cultivation of Lavender as principal crop to create a template for other farmer’s of various areas especially of Bhaderwah area in terms of upliftment of Agricultural Sector of the district.
In this regard the DDC Doda Dr Sagar D Doifode today inaugrated three distillation units at different locations of the Bhaderwah which are installed by the CSIR-IIIM in order to provide the facility of extraction of essential oils from Lavender as well as from Marigold to the farmer’s engaged in the cultivation of above mentioned crops at their nearest locations.
While speaking to the large gathering of farmers at Community hall Bhaderwah,the DDC said that District Administration is leaving no stone unturned and are making persistence efforts to introduce and promote the new alternative farming in the district to make the farmer’s Atmanirbhar in real manner.
The DDC informed that initially the Lavender was cultivated on only meagre quantum of 30 to 40 kanal of land,but after it has been promoted among the farmer’s of Bhaderwah area, humongous growth has been seen in last 2 years and the cultivation has jumped upto around on 800 Kanal of land in Bhaderwah area only.
The farmer’s are now seeing the profit and potential of this cultivation and has shifted from conventional farming to lavender cultivation as an alternative means of livelihood,the DDC added.
Further speaking the DDC said that the construction of Various important structures of High Altitude Medicinal Plant is going on at rapid pace,which is also going to boost the new varieties of Aromatic and Medicinal plant cultivation in the Bhaderwah and its adjoining areas in the upcoming days as the land of this region is so fertile and accurate for the lavender cultivation and will turn the Atmanirbhar policy into reality for the farmer’s of this region positively.
The DDC said that recently the district administration has successfully pushed GI of Gucchi Mushroom and in the upcoming days will push the GI for lavender of Bhaderwah, besides said that 2 more distillation units will be installed in the Bhaderwah in the upcoming days positively.
The DDC asked the scientists of CSIR-IIIM to create more awareness among the farmer’s regarding the new farming techniques and research, besides assured them that the district administration is ready to extend full cooperation to them so that the aim and objectives of making farmer’s Atmanirbhar shall be achieved in letter and spirit.
Later on DDC Doda distributed momento’s among the innovative farmer’s and also appreciated the farmer’s who just started promoting the lavender cultivation as a source of their livelihood among others also.
Among others present during the program are ADC Bhaderwah Rakesh Kumar,DFO Bhaderwah,Chief Scientist from CSIR-IIIM Jammu, Principal Scientists besides PRI members were also present during the program.
