750 LPM Oxygen Plant to be ready for commissioning in Doda by next ten days: DC ‘3 level Covid management system in place with sufficient beds’

DODA, MAY 14: Oxygen generation plant of 750 Litre Per Minute (LPM) capacity will be ready for commissioning in Government Medical College Doda.

Around 80% work, including installation has been completed and by next 10 days the plant will be commissioned which can refill around 155 D type cylinders in a day, said Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vikas Sharma, while briefing the media persons on Management and Control measures taken by the district administration amid the current Covid-19 scenario.

The DC informed that at present there are a total 776 active cases in the district, including 745 in home isolation with no symptoms. He said   8 covid deaths have been recorded during the second wave till date.

Regarding treatment facilities, the DC said that the District has 3 level Covid management system, at first level which is quarantine facilities, near about 277 bedding capacity has been established but till now these are not occupied. “Besides a capacity of about 900 beds has already been identified, while at second level the district has increased the capacity of covid care beds for mild symptoms patients from 95 to around 190 of which 50 percent are oxygen supported and at third level, for severe cases, around 270 beds are available at GMC’s Associated Hospital among which 150 beds are designated as covid dedicated beds of which only 32 beds are occupied, he added.

With regard to testing, the DC informed that testing is being conducted at a rapid pace. “100% testing is being conducted on a daily basis at 3 entry points of the district to detect positive patients to curb the spread” he informed.

He also informed that for the past few days as per the directions of LG, the distribution of medicine kits and door to door mopping drive is on. He further informed about 24×7 covid control room and helpline numbers have been shared with the patients for seeking any medical assistance.
