*Being Ambulance driver is one of the most noble,critical, responsible and challenging profession in Covid pandemic crisis says Parvaz Iqbal Sheikh* _When serious patients are taken to hospitals on time that gives me more happiness rather than other worldly pleasures_

Being an ambulance driver in the present times when the entire humanity is fighting against the deadly Coronavirus threat round the clock makes my job one of the most noble, responsible, critical and challenging profession, said Ambulance driver at AH GMC Doda Parvaz Iqbal Sheikh.

 

“As the life of people at large has gained the pace in present times,the rate of incidents/accidents has also exceeded considerably which requires readiness of medical machinery as well as our profession round the clock”Parvaz added.

 

He says that being in the service of ambulance driver for more than 8 years now, I have never been so depressed  and stressed as i have been for the last one year dealing with this deadly Covid-19 pandemic round the clock day and night.

 

Referring to the last year efforts at a initial phase, he says that he had to take the samples collected at the GMC or anywhere in the district to Jammu’s designated Centres under set protocol everyday so that they shall be tested, because at that time there was no RTPCR machine available in the GMC Doda.

 

Adding to this he says that when any patient was gasping for oxygen last year he has to be referred to Jammu or Srinagar for adequate oxygen supply as there was no manifold or oxygen generation plant available in GMC Doda at that point as it is now available generating ample oxygen to deal with any exigency.

 

“Spinning wheels at a fast speed by risking our own lives to take  the reffered patients to the hospitals on time gives us more happiness rather any other worldly pleasures”,Parvaz Added.

 

Apart from this when no body is ready to touch the dead bodies of the Covid patients we assist the bereaved family by completing the final ceremonies while putting our own lives at stake, he added.

 

Other than my profession the hospital authorities are also kind to give me other small assignments too keeping in view my dedication and commitment towards my profession, besides said that in comparison to the last year the hospital infrastructure are more streamlined and strengthening day by day to serve the people of Doda with utmost priority.

 

He urged the people of the district to follow the instructions with regard to Covid appropriate behaviour seriously as this deadly virus has swallowen the beloved and dear ones of many of us in the recent times.
