*Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrated with national fervor across Doda* _Patriotic songs, Gujjar folklore, speeches organised to mark the birth anniversary of iconic tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda_

Doda, November 15:

As per the instructions of the Union Govt to celebrate 15th November as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas to mark the birth anniversary of iconic tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda who led a rebellion against the British, District administration  Doda organises multifarious functions across Doda to celebrate the day.

 

During the day various activities which includes singing of patriotic songs, Gujjar folklore, Gojri mushairas, speeches and other activities, were organised by the district administration in coordination with the tribal department to mark the celebrations.

 

The DDC Doda Vikas Sharma in this regard launched the program here at Gujjar and Bakerwal Boys hostel Doda at District headquarter.

 

Speaking on the occasion the DDC briefed about achievements of the iconic tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda in unifying the tribal communities against the Britishers during the national freedom movement.

 

Further the DDC said that Govt is keen to uplift the tribal communities and special measures have been taken in this regard among which Forest Right Act is the major development.

 

In addition to this he said that this program will continue upto 22nd of November, besides directed to give wide publicity to the various schemes extended for tribal communities especially by the Govt in this week long program.

 

The people from tribal community also extended gratitude to the Union Govt for declaring this day in the memory of Birsa Munda which is also a respect to the entire tribal community across nation.

 

In is pertinent to mention here that similar programs were also conducted at sub district and sub division level in which officers, officials besides locals actively participated.

 

ADC Doda Dr R K Bharti also accompanied the DDC during the program at Gujjar Bakerwal Boys hostel Doda.
