_Good Governance Week_*Handloom, Doda organized awareness cum exhibition camp at Senai, Bhala*

Office of the Assistant Director, Handloom Development, Doda organized One Day Exhibition Cum Awareness Camp today at village Senai, Bhalla.
 
On this occasion, Vice Chairperson, District Development Council, Doda Smt. Sangeeta Bhagat was the chief guest, Sarpanch Khellani Top Sh. Kashi Nath was guest of honour, artisans and weavers,  trainees of Handloom training centres, large number of people from Block Bhalla and staff of Handloom and Handicrafts department participated in the said camp. 
 
Satish Rana, Assistant Director, Handicrafts and Handloom, Doda presided over the function and while addressing the participants asked the people to take up weaving as profession and avail the benefits of the departmental schemes. He apprised participants about the training programme and schemes run by the Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu for the welfare of artisans and weavers in the district. It was also announced by the chair that during the current financial year of 2021-22 Rs. 5.00 lacs as bank interest subsidy is disbursed till date. He asked the weavers and artisans to avail the benefits of the schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Weavers Mudra scheme, Credit Card scheme, Scholarship to girls child of weavers under Education Scheme, Loan for purchase/renovation/ modernization of looms, Share capital loan, Formation of cooperative societies, Skill Development Training in Weaving to the unemployed youths and payment of stipend at the rate of Rs1000 and 1500 per month for elementary and advanced courses respectively etc.
 
Speaking on the occasion Vice Chairperson, District Development Council, Doda apprised people about the benefits of all schemes of Department of Handicrafts and Handloom. She further stressed that the weavers and artisans should adopt new technology and develop new design by replacing the old type of pit looms to modern fly shuttle looms so that the quality of products and their earning is improved. During the camp diploma/certificates were distributed among the passing out trainees and three officials of Handloom Doda were awarded with certificate of appreciation for their services.
 
The people of the area requested the department for organizing more such camps in far off and remote areas.The program was concluded with vote of thanks and refreshment for participants.
