*6th NCORD Committee meeting held at Doda.* _RDD Doda to declare drugs free panchayats in consultation with PRIs_ _Suspects be kept on thorough surveillance; Drugs Testing Kits be used_

DODA, DECEMBER 27: 6th Narco Coordination (NCORD) Committee meeting was held here in the DC office Doda yesterday to take review of the action taken by the designated members and to formulate the future course of action against the drug abuse in the district.
District Magistrate (DC) Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan chaired the meeting virtually. ADM (ADC) Doda Dr R K Bharti read out the decisions made in the previous meeting and reviewed the progress made, action taken and delivery gaps by the intending departments.
SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom, who is also the convener of the Committee, presented the latest developments in the district regarding control on drugs addiction and drugs trafficking. He also presented the agenda of the meeting.
SSP informed the Committee that mass level awareness camps have been conducted in the district. Under operation Pathshala, 210 programmes on awareness of drugs menace have been conducted various schools in the district during the current calendar year, till date.
As many as 42 cases have been registered against 49 drug peddlers under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. All the suspects have been taken up under the surveillance of district police and their involvement is under verification and disciplinary action shall follow soon.
District Magistrate (DC) Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan appreciated the efforts of Drug Control Officer Doda for timely action in suspending licences of 4 medical stores in the district, allegedly involved in the drugs trafficking.
DM has emphasized on use of specific drugs test kit to verify the suspect for use of drugs. He has further asked enforcement agencies to watch the behaviour of suspects and keep them under thorough surveillance so that the odd men can be taken out. Tehsildars and police officers were asked to ensure that their jurisdiction, suspects and medical stores in their area are closely monitored by them.
ACD Doda was asked to declare panchayats drugs free in consultation with PRIs.
It was decided that the farmers/ persons, involved in cultivation of Cannabis/ Opium or are involved in Drugs peddling or drugs addiction, shall be debarred from getting benifits from any of the government schemes, besides initiating legal action against them.
The meeting was attended by, ACR Doda, SE PWD, CEO Doda, CAO Doda, Dy SP DAR, DIO DIPR Doda, Tehsildar Headquarter, Drug Control Officer Doda, and representative of Excise and Taxation officer. The meeting was also virtually attended by all the SDMs, ACD Doda, CMO Doda, DFO Batote, all the Tehsildars and other concerned officers and officials.
