Doda, February 16; After recent road accidents, the road safety has become top priority of the District Administration here. Today, District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) met under the chairmanship of its chairman (DC) Vishesh Paul Mahajan along with SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom to assess the availability and requirement of infrastructure and allied issues for road safety, and measures to prevent road accidents.
The concerned executing agencies have been asked to make road construction plans in the future with compulsory road safety equipments including crash barrier provision.
The committee decided to have CCTV cameras at Assar, Pul Doda, Ganpat Bridge, Thathri and at entry point of Bhaderwah to have better surveillance and traffic management on the highway. At Pul Doda a District Assistance Booth with officials of traffic police, MVD and construction agencies shall be established for assistance of the commuters.
The executing agencies were further directed to submit the report on road safety measures taken up in the last three years and future plan for coming years.
The meeting also decided to introduce small reading books in the Middle Standard Schools and the above classes to teach the students about the importance of traffic rules and other moral values as a part of extracurricular activity.
The DRSC also discussed the implementation of previous decisions, and, Road safety funds, iRAD, and other like issues.
