_Afforestation around water bodies, Major Compaign against banned plastic from 1st April, decided in DEP implimentation committee_
Doda, March 27: To review the implimentation of District Environment Plan (DEP) in the district, Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Mahajan convened a meeting of all the members of District Environment Committee (DEC) here in his office chamber at DC Office complex Doda.
During the meeting, it was decided that trees would be planted on the bank of Bhaderwah Nallah and around all the water bodies in the district. It was further decided that the campaign against the use of single-use plastic (Below 120 micron) shall be intensified in the district. At Assar Naka, random checking of polythene twice a week shall be carried out by Pollution Control Department and other stakeholders.
DMO Doda informed that the e-bidding for the lease of mining mineral is in process of allotment, and the department has intensified crackdown on the illegal mining.
DC has ordered for making a workable plan to reduce the harmful effects on the environment of construction and demolition waste.
Threadbare discussion was also held regarding action taken on execution of DEP in respect of Solid Waste management, Domestic Sewage Management, e-Waste and Water Waste Management, Plantation drive, medical waste and bio-medical waste, etc.
The committee urges educational institutions to embark upon the creative activities on cleanliness and waste management to safeguard the environment for our future generations.
