_DHS, GDC Doda host debate competition on ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’_ _No drug peddler shall be spared & all drug addicts shall be rehabilitated - DM._

Doda, March 25: District Health Society (DHS) Doda and Government Degree College (GDC) Doda, today organised a debate competition under the banner of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at Community Hall Doda, to sensitise youth of the adverse effects of drugs on the addict and on the Society. The theme of the programme was Early Detection of Drug abuse and Post- Detection Management for Youth of the District.
 
As many as 10 students from GDC Doda participated in the debate competition. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions were secured by Pawan Kotwal, Qurat-Ul-Ain, and Minkle Devi of GDC Doda, respectively. 
 
 
The debate competition was inaugurated by District Magistrate Doda, Vishesh Mahajan, who is also Chairman of District Level Committee of Narco Coordination (NCORD). The programme was attended by CMO Doda Dr Hamid Zargar, Incharge Principal GDC Doda Dr Aijaz Wani, DEPO Doda Ayaz Mughal, Dy CMO Doda Dr. Om Kumar, Nodal Officer Drugs rehabilitation/ De-addiction Centre GMC Doda Dr. Zia Showkat, faculty of GDC Doda, Doctors, and students of GDC Doda. 
 
Nodal Officer Drug De-addiction Centre GMC Doda Dr Zia Showkat gave a detailed presentation on causes, effects, route of administration, types of Drugs, and their effects on the individual health and on the society. He informed that 250 patients/ addicts are under treatment in their De-addiction centre at GMC Doda. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, the District Magistrate said that there is an immediate need to spread mass awareness about the Nasha Mukt Bharat to weed out menace of drugs from the society. He urged to share the Powerpoint presentation on Drugs menace with the Colleges and Schools so that the youth can be made aware of the menace. He said that the youth can be very effective in taking an active part in making our society free from this evil. He reteriated that administration is committed toward making the district drugs free, and major steps towards achieving it have already been taken in the district effectively. District Police has intensified their efforts to break the supply chain and convict the drug peddlers. He informed that Drugs checking/ testing kits shall be introduced in the educational institutions to detect the addict in early stages. He expressed his firm commitment that no drug peddler shall be spared/sheltered and all drug addicts shall be rehabilitated/ rejuvenated in the district.
