NYK organises district level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament at GDC Doda._

Doda, March 20; Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. Of India in collaboration with NSS Unit of GDC Doda, organised District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament in Govt. Degree College, Doda. The objective of the programme was to celebrate India’s G20 Presidency along with the celebration of the International Year of Millets and Mission LiFE.
 
 Deputy Commissioner Doda, Sh. Vishesh Paul Mahajan attended the event as Chief Guest and DIO Doda Sh. Ashraf Wani, was the Guest of Honour. Incharge Principal Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Wani was the special guest on the occasion.
 
The event started with the traditional lamp lightning ceremony followed by the welcome address by Sh. Khushal Gupta, District Youth Officer, NYK Doda. He also briefed about the objectives of organising the event. It was followed by the lectures by resource persons. Dr. Ajaz Wani gave an awareness lecture on G20 and the importance of its presidency by India. In his session, he explained in detail the formation and objectives of the G20 summit. 
 
Dr. Sumit Kotwal, HOD Dept. Of Environmental Science briefed about the International Year of Millets and Mission LiFE. He focussed on the theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future” and stressed on keeping the environment clean and green.
 
NSS volunteers Jagdeep Singh, Sagar Thakur, and Saima Banoo also spoke on the occasion and gave their views on G20 followed by the cultural performance by the students. The dignitaries who attended the programme included Dr. Akriti Parihar, Prof Purnima Manhas, Prof Upma Katoch, Dr. Anita Kotwal, Dr. Akhter Hussain. It is pertinent to mention that the whole event was coordinated and anchored by Sh. Arif Rana (Teacher cum NCC Officer) and attended by volunteers Tilak Raj, Jugnu Bhagat, Ahamer Ahmed, Rajesh Kumar, Jasveer Singh and many others.
 
DC while addressing the students at GDC Doda, said that the youth is our future and our soldiers to fight against all the evils in the society, be it drugs menace, social taboos, and terrorism in all forms. India has proved herself a world leader, giving the world an eco-sustainable model of development. India gave the first Covid-19 vaccine to the world and has created a history by vaccinating its more than 100 crore people on mission mode in short period, protecting its citizens from the deadly virus when the world was struggling to come out of the calamity. He urged the youth to fight against Drugs abuse, promote cleanliness, and contribute their ideas and efforts to make Doda, really Adbhut Doda.
