Awareness cum screening camps held in Doda during World Glaucoma Week 2023

In connection with the celebration of World Glaucoma Week 2023, a series of awareness programmes and screening camps have been organized in the District under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment. 

 

During the ongoing week-long celebration of different activities cum programme, around 350-400 patients have been screened to rule out Glaucoma and other causes of blindness during the week-long campaign in all Medical Blocks of the District. 

 

Important to mention here that the week is a global initiative of the World Glaucoma Association that puts a spotlight on Glaucoma as the leading cause of preventable irreversible blindness worldwide.

 

The health department under the supervision of CMO Doda is observing World Glaucoma Week at every health facility with the aim to make the people aware about the disease, its symptoms and treatment. The goal is to alert everyone to have regular eye checkups in order to detect Glaucoma as early as possible.

 

Regarding the week-long activities held, CMO Doda Dr Ab Hamid Zargar said that the aim was to raise awareness among masses about Glaucoma as the leading cause of irreversible and preventable visual disability. The week-long activities have been organized to encourage screening and educate patients about the preventable and treatment aspects of Glaucoma.
