*DC Doda reviews Implementation of District Environmental Plan* _Instructs Div Officer PCC & EO MCs to ensure no single use plastic below 120 microns is used in the district_

Doda, February 24: Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan convened a meeting of all the members of District Environment Committee (DEC) and reviewed Implementation of District Environment Plan (DEP) in Doda here in his office chamber at DC Office complex Doda.
 
DC at the outset has issued directions to all the members of DEC to attend the meeting regularly in person and without fail on last Thursday of every month and submit the action taken report on the decisions taken in the meetings in time as per the guidelines of NGT.
 
On the issue of Bio medical waste (SO-710), CMO has been asked to make functional STP at Bhaderwah hospital and communicate in writing to the higher authorities for setting up STPs/ETPs at Gandoh and Thathri hospital. 
 
DMO Doda informed the committee that he has seized 8 vehicles in the last month for illegal mining. DC has ordered for joint checking of construction and demolition waste by MVD, Geology and Mining, Traffic Police and Pollution Control Committee Doda and submit the action taken report weekly to the ADC Doda.
 
Forest Division Doda apprised the chair that they have planted more than 2 lacs of plants, for which the DC directed to submit the geotaged photographs of the enclosures.
 
He instructed Div Officer PCC & EO MCs to ensure no single use plastic below 120 microns is used in the district. Joint Naka at Km 9 near Assar shall check the entry of single use plastic below 120 microns in the district.
 
ACP, ACD and BDOs shall monitor collection and disposal of single use plastic and other kind of Wastes in their respective jurisdictions.
 
On the information of seizure of 116 Kgs of plastic by Divisional Officer PCC, DC expressed that the seizure must have been more to throw a message in the society that use of the banned plastic is not allowed in the district.
 
Contractors and construction agencies have been warned not to dump construction waste on the sites other than designated for the same.
Water bodies shall be restored and rejuvenated by rain water or snow across the district.
 
Threadbare discussion was also held regarding action taken on execution of DEP in respect of Solid Waste management, Domestic Sewage Management, e-Waste and Water Waste Management etc.

We must own the responsibility to save our environment, and protect and improve our bio diversity around us.
