Doda, March 01; Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan today, while interacting with the public at Higher Secondary School Bhagwah, declared Bhagwah Block drugs free after recieving the certificate from concerned department.
While replying to a demand raised during the Block Diwas, DC has informed that the administration shall be holding a mega tourism activity/ mela at Lal Draman soon. DC has asked the public and the department to take up works benefiting the whole area for the overall development of the district. He reteriated that inclusive development and peace is the prime goal of the government, and every citizen must contribute his efforts in realising this goal.
Block Diwas program is being organised weekly every Wednesday at different locations of the district to reach out to the people and listen to their grievances, aspirations, and demands.
This week, Block Diwas/ Public Outreach Programme was held today at five places across District Doda. The locations of the grievances redressal camps across the district include; Tehsil Headquarter Bhella, Sub Division Thathri; Panchayat Taintly Bisran, Sub Division Gandoh; Panchayat Ghar Bulandpur, Sub Division Assar; Fores Hut, Panchayat Panjgrain, Block Bhalla, Sub District Bhaderwah; and Higher Secondary School Bhagwah (Doda)
Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan along SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, BDC Chairperson Bhagwah, and other District and sectoral officers listened to the public grievances at Higher Secondary School Bhagwah. DC along the SSP and other officers also inspected Tehsil Office Bhagwah, Anganwadi Centre Bhagwah, Amrit Sarovar at Bhagwah, and launched plantation drive in the area by planting lemon plant here at Bhagwah.
Several public delegations, individuals besides PRI members, projected the local demands and problems being faced by the public. The major demands projected by the public include: Establishment of Horticulture Mandi in the area; New building for HSS Bhagwah; Upgradation of Lower High School Manjmi; Construction of new roads; Shortage of staff in Schools and Health care institutions; Repair of Doda Bhagwah road; Shortage of Patwaris in the Tehsil; Start of JJM schemes etc. The DC assured people that their demands will be redressed on priority by mobilizing all available resources.
During the program, SSP Doda also spoke on the focus areas of the police services in the district. He informed that militancy, drugs, and bovine smuggling are his priorities in the district. He urges parents to track the behaviour of their children for their involvement in drugs use or in any other anti-national and anti-social activities.
At all other designated locations, the daylong Block Diwas proceedings were witnessed. Public and PRIs put forth a range of issues/ demands. They demanded augmentation of water supply and electricity, macadamization of roads, meeting dearth of staff in schools and hospitals, upgradation of schools, banking facilities in rural areas, release of pending wages under MGNREGA etc. The Presiding officers of the Block Diwas gave patient hearing to the issues and demands and directed the concerned officers to prepare a list of issues/grievances raised pertaining to their departments and resolve the same at an earliest.
