*DRSC reviews road safety measures in the district.* _Areas for operation for E- Rikshaws, installation of speed limit signages on roads, toiled construction on major bus stops, decided by the committee_

Doda, March 27; In order to review the road safety measures in the district, District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) met under the chairmanship of its Chairman (DC) Vishesh Mahajan along with SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom today at DC office Doda.
The committee decided that E- Rikshaws recently introduced in the district shall play in all towns, Doda to Pul-Doda, Ghat- Doda, Seri- Bhalla, Drudu – Pranoo and other such areas in the first instance. The concerned executing agencies have been asked to install speed limit signages and glow sign boards on all the roads. GM, NHIDCL has informed that tender for filling potholes has been floated, and the work shall start soon.
Chairman directed all the executing agencies, including GREF authorities, to remove all the encroachments on their roads and submit a compliance report to the committee.
Detailed discussion on previous directions regarding installation of CCTV cameras at Assar, Pul Doda, Ganpat Bridge, Thathri, and at entry point of Bhaderwah, for better surveillance and traffic management on the highway, was held during the meeting. Stakeholders were asked to take up the matter with their higher authorities for allotment of funds for CCTV cameras, as the same has been the direction of Hon’ble Union Minister for Road, Transport and National Highway during his last visit in the district. The Committee has decided for the construction of toilets at all major bus stops in and around the town for the convenience of the general public.
ARTO Doda Er Kuldeep Singh informed the committee that the booklet on road safety and morality has been finalised and shall soon be sent to the Education department for its circulation in the schools. The booklet for Middle Standard and the above classes has been designed to teach the students about the importance of traffic rules and other moral values as a part of extracurricular activity.
He further informed that iRAD training has been conducted in the district. The committee also discussed Road Safety funds, Causes of recent road accidents and other like issues.
