Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh led a comprehensive review of the education sector in Doda, covering all 10 education zones in the district. Chief Education Officer Doda presented detailed information on government-sponsored schemes, infrastructure, schools in aspirational blocks, zone-wise pupil-teacher ratios, and the status of various initiatives like Samagra Shiksha. The meeting included updates on girls’ hostels, KGBV schools, ICT labs, Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India, board examinations, and digital initiatives.
DC Doda highlighted that the district has 10 education zones, including 2 aspirational blocks, with a total of 537 operational schools. He reported the ongoing construction of 5 girls’ hostels, emphasizing the completion of works in Doda and Bhella. The DC directed education officials to coordinate efforts to ensure efficient utilization of government funds for school infrastructure improvement. Priorities include rationalizing teaching staff, addressing dropout rates, ensuring punctuality, and enhancing KGBV infrastructure.
DC Doda shared board examination results, with a pass percentage of 98.31 for 8th class, 79.80 for 10th class, and 67.69 for 12th class. He issued directives to address low results among teachers, expedite ongoing works, and complete building structures promptly. The DC emphasized the need for boundary walls around girls’ hostels, physiotherapy facilities for bedridden students, and proper functioning of schools under ZEOs’ jurisdictions. He urged promoting digital initiatives, weekly online interactions with students, and utilizing funds for school infrastructure upgrades.
The meeting, attended by key officials, included the ADDC Doda, ACD Doda, CPO Doda, SE PWD Circle Doda, DPO/Incharge DIO Doda, program officer ICDS Doda, DSWO, DYSSO, executive engineers of PWD, REW Doda, all ZEOs, and representatives of concerned departments. DC Doda directed officials to ensure water supply connections for KGBV girls’ hostels, oversee Anganwadi centers, provide library facilities, and improve schools with zero enrollment ratios. The DC also urged utilizing aspirational block and panchayat funds for school upgrades and providing the best teaching staff to underperforming schools.
