Under the auspices of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh’s directive, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD under the supervision of ARTO Doda Rajesh Gupta ) in Doda orchestrated a month-long series of road safety events across the district. These initiatives were part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month, which commenced on January 15, 2024, and culminated with a resounding message advocating for road safety every day, aiming to safeguard precious lives amidst potential mishaps.
Throughout the month, a plethora of road safety activities and awareness camps were organized at various locations, spearheaded by the district administration and the MVD. These efforts sought to disseminate crucial information about road safety measures and encourage adherence to traffic regulations among the community.
One such event unfolded near Khellani Tunnel, led by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Doda and officials from APCO Infratech Pvt Ltd. The gathering included members of the drivers’ community and the general public. MVD officials delivered presentations on road safety measures, emphasizing the importance of seat belt usage, avoiding overloading, and adhering to traffic rules.
During the event, MVD officials conducted checks to ensure compliance with road safety regulations. Drivers who demonstrated adherence to safety protocols were commended and rewarded with gifts as a gesture of appreciation. The primary objective was to assess adherence to road safety measures and reinforce the implementation of traffic rules among drivers.
Given the unique challenges posed by hilly terrain, special emphasis was placed on road safety measures tailored to such environments.
