*DDC Doda reviews the implementation of District Environmental Plan* _Directs the stakeholders to properly work for the environment conservation_

DODA, JANUARY 22: District Development commissioner (DDC) Doda, Dr Sagar D Doifode (Chairman District Environment Committee) today convened a meeting of District Environment Committee members to review the action taken by the different departments for proper implementation of District Environment Plan (DEP).
The meeting was attended by the members of the committee including ADC Doda Kishori Lal Sharma,CPO Doda Parshotam Kumar, PO ICDS Shahida Parveen, CEO, CMO, MS District Hospital,CAO, Executive officer MCs and other concerned.
Threadbare discussion held regarding action taken on DEP across the district by different departments which includes Solid Waste management, Plastic waste management, Bio-medical Waste Management, Domestic Sewage Management and Water Waste Management etc.
The DDC said that District environment action plan aimed at improving parameters of environment in the district including solid waste management, bio-medical waste management, construction and demolition waste, polluted river stretches, industrial pollution control, utilization of treated sewage, conservation of water bodies, e-waste management, prevention of illegal sand mining, widespread measures to curb use of plastic/polythene, community participation and mass awareness, strengthening green clubs, water conservation, curbing air and water pollution and grievance redressal mechanism.
DDC directed the EO MC’s to collect the waste from the doorstep of every household in their jurisdiction, besides directed them to collect the waste in segregated manner i.e dry and wet in one of the identified ward of each MC in ideal manner and to ensure 100% segregation in the identified ward and compliance report in this regard to be submitted in the office of DDC in three weeks positively.
DDC directed the EO MC Doda that there should be no dumping of garbage in the streets particularly in that ward which will be identified by the authorities in first step under which waste will be collected in segregated manner.
DDC in strict manner warned the concerned that failing to the above mentioned task,a fine shall be levied on the erring MC by the District Environmental Committee.
While reviewing the bio medical waste management, MS informed the DDC that bio medical waste is being lifted on weekly basis according to the set norms and nothing is being kept in the premises of the DH.
CMO informed the DDC that in all the SDH and CHC’s Bio medical Waste is collected at the model of DH.
DDC directed the MS to invite the President MC and all EO MC’s within two days and to show them dumping sites so that EO’s shall issue the certification that all the waste material is being dumped as per specifications.
Regarding waster waste management DDC shows deep concern that majority of the waste in being directed towards river and local nallah causing damage to the water bodies,in this regard DDC asked the CPO Doda to write President MC Doda to coordinate with Director ULB’s to prepare a comprehensive DPR regarding construction of the sewerage plant.
Moreover he asked the CPO Doda to sent the communication to the Director ULB’s to submit the report in this regard besides to ask them to follow this matter according to the guidelines of NGT.
