*World Wildlife Day Celebrations: Bhaderwah Forest Division launches awareness campaign on importance of wildlife*

Bhaderwah March 03 : As a part of the World Wildlife Day, Forest Department organised a function at Bhaderwah Forest Division here today.
To celebrate the ‘World wild life Day’ Bhaderwah Forest Division launched an awareness campaign on importance of wildlife for mankind, involving students, Panchayat members forest officials and members of civil society.
Presiding over the function, DDC Doda Dr Sagar Dattaray Doifode who was the chief guest on the occasion disclosed that the number of wildlife, including Leopard, Musk dear, barking dear, Goral, black bear, fox and beside several birds are rapidly decreasing from the rich coniferous forests of Doda district despite Government and Forest Department are taking utmost care in protection of wildlife.
Continuing, DFO Bhaderwah Chander Shekhar said that the theme of the day is ‘Sustaining All Life On Earth’ and today’s programme is aimed at to create awareness among people on protection of wildlife.
He regretted that humans had encroached upon the forest area inhabited by wildlife thus disturbing their habitat and movement resulting in straying often into human habitat.
“Nearly a quarter of all species are presently at risk of going to extinct in the coming decades, and their demise would only speed up the disappearance of countless others, putting us in danger as well,” said Chander Shekhar.
Later students and panchayat members also spoke on the importance of wildlife for mankind besides the proceedings of the awareness campaign were conducted by renowned educationist Arif Rana.
Prominent among those who were present during the awareness program include ADC Bhadarwah Rakesh Kumar,Dr Rajinder Khajuria CEO BDA, DFO demarcation M S Jamwal, DM, SFC Hatinder Singh Chndel, Tehsildar Zeeshan Tahir and others.
