The District Administration Doda, in its endeavor to provide succour to the rural labour in the wake of COVID-19,is going to resume a number of development works in rural parts of the district under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
District Development Commissioner,Doda, Dr Sagar D Doifode,said that the department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj has already commenced number of works under MGNREGA in different parts of the district which shall be expedited in the coming days.
Besides the DDC Informed that the plan for the current financial year has been finalized under which 8808 works of different nature stands approved which are going to be started across the district in the upcoming days.The approved labour budget for the district is 132.60 cr for the current financial year, besides said that this time initial target of 45 lac Person day’s generation has been fixed for the executing department, DDC added.
While assessing the previous year achievements DDC Informed that in the last financial year the target for the district was 26.50 lac Person day’s against which the district has recorded phenomenal growth and went beyond the target hence achieved the figure of 37.70 lac Person day’s across the district.
While commenting upon the material rates fixation,the DDC Informed that the rates has been fixed in consultation with the executing department and accordingly the estimates are going to be float on secure soft,so that material payment issue can be avoided in the future positively and 60:40 ratio can be maintained across the district without any fail.
As per the details received from the official of ACD Office Doda,at present 147 SOS works are ongoing across the district, besides the work on 5782 PMAY houses are ongoing in the district on war footing.
DDC informed that due to closure of all works in the wake of COVID-19 lockdown the rural labourers had been facing lot of hardships,so the administration initiated to restart several works under the scheme. He said that already directions has been passed to the field functionaries to follow all the requisite guidelines especially maintaining social distancing and wearing safety gears, into consideration so as to prevent spread of the pandemic.
