*Pushing GI tagging for Doda Gucchi Mushroom will make huge impact on rural livelihoods in Doda*(DDC) _GI tagging shall boost marketing of Doda Gucchi Mushroom in national,overseas markets_

The District Administration Doda under the supervision of DDC Doda Dr Sagar D Doifode, is working relentlessly to promote the local produce/products a global niche, paving ways to improve the livelihoods of the locals concerned with the activity.

 

In this regard a significant milestone achieved by the District Administration in the recent days is the application submission for Geographical Indication (GI) for the Doda Gucchi Mushroom which have been finally pushed by the Agriculture department of Govt of J&K recently under the guidance of Principal secretary Agriculture Department Sh Navin Kumar Choudhary , due to which the Gucchi Mushroom will receive a considerable fillip at national as well as at international level.

 

The DDC said that GI label, is used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or reputation that are due to that origin,and Doda Gucchi Mushroom is mainly found in the deep forest areas having both nutritional as well as medicinal quality.

 

It has been informed that due to GI tagging of the Doda Gucchi Mushroom,more and more people especially of rural areas will take this as a part of their alternative livelihood which will double their income in comparison to the traditional cultivation.
