Doda,May 22:
Mohd Saleem Batt,a Lab Tachnologist by profession is rendering extraordinary services to the people of Doda district continuously amid Coronavirus threat for the past one year in multifarious manner.
While sharing his initial days of experience in the Covid duty,Mohd Saleem Batt said that there was no specialised training given to us regarding how to deal with this Covid pandemic scare as this virus was even new, that the whole world itself was facing for the first time, but seeing this a potential threat to the lives of our beloved fellow people of the district, I and many other fellow colleagues have voluntarily came forward and rendered our services by holding various positions.
“During my Covid duty days at Quarantine Centres, I used to do shift of 12-16 hrs in a day which continues for almost two months, besides said that during my Covid duty days I have made only virtual interaction with my family members, children and parents”,Mohd Saleem added.
Meanwhile when the district authorities decided to increase the pace of testing as there was huge influx of stranded labourers as well as stranded passengers coming from all over the country to the district on daily basis and there was also shortage of staff specialised in conducting tests,I have again volunteered myself, learned how to do tests so that I can extend my small efforts against this war, he added.
Mohd Saleem said that, till now I have conducted around 10,000 covid tests which includes both RAT and RTPCR in various containment zones and at present I have been deployed at GMC OPD to conduct the testing alongwith my other colleagues.
There are times when we (Medical fraternity) are in stress, completely exhausted and shattered, having anxiety, loosing hope, but we again stood up on our toes so that our people shall feel safe and secure, he added.
Mohd Saleem Batt appealed all the people of the district not to let, the services rendered by the thankless medical professionals or by any frontline worker, go in vain, because we remain detached with our beloved ones in the line of duty, so that the general public can remain with their dear ones safe and secure, besides urged the people to follow all the necessary instructions regarding Covid-19 preventive measures on priority basis so that this war shall be won collectively.
