*DM Chairs 7th NCORD Committee meeting at Doda.* _Calls upon stakeholders to take the war against drug abuse to its logical end; Declare Panchayat/ Blocks/ Tehsils Drugs free_

Doda, January 31: District Magistrate Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan convened 7th Narco Coordination (NCORD) Committee meeting here in the DC office Doda yesterday and discussed the action taken by the designated members on the directions issued in the previous meetings and to formulate the future course of action against the drugs abuse in the district.
SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom, who is also the convener of the Committee, presented the latest developments in the district regarding control on drug addiction and drug trafficking. He also presented the agenda of the meeting. SSP informed the Committee that 43 FIRs have been lodged against 52 persons across the district, involved in drugs peddling/ addiction. Around 30 persons have been taken into preventive detention, and 2 persons have been booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988. Four liscences of medical stores were cancelled in the district till date, and all the medical shops are under surveillance in the district. Out of the four drug addicts sent in the rehabilitation centre, three persons have recovered fully and returned home. 256 mass level awareness camps have been conducted in the district under operation Pathshala and other IEC activities, in schools, and other public places.
SSP Doda issued instructions to his subordinate officers to have a complete eye on all the suspects and take strict action as warranted under rules against those involved in drug trafficking.
DM has emphasized on dedicating the year 2023 for eradication of drugs abuse from the district. He emphasized on stakeholders to wage the war against drug abuse at mission mode.
He asked the ACD to declare drugs free panchayats, blocks, and tehsils in consultation with PRIs. He has fixed the target of declaring 50% of the panchayats drugs free by the end of March 2023.
It was decided that the farmers/ persons, involved in cultivation of Cannabis/ Opium or are involved in Drugs peddling or drugs addiction, shall be debarred from getting benifits from any of the government schemes, besides initiating legal action against them.
The meeting was attended by, ADC Doda ACR Doda, CPO Doda, ACP Doda, DSWO Doda, CMO Doda, ETO Doda, Principal DIET Doda, District Agriculture Officer Doda, DIO DIPR Doda, and Drug Control Officer Doda. The meeting was also attended virtually by the ADC Bhaderwah, ASP Bhadarwah, Superintendent NCB Jammu, all SDMs, ACD Doda, DFO Batote, all the Tehsildars, Dy SP Headquater, all the SDPOs all SHOs and other concerned officers and officials.
