_Ankur Maitrika Hospital and Foregen Healthcare Ltd partners to donate Sanitary Pad Vending machines for Schools in Doda_

Director Ankur Maitrika Hospital Jammu, Dr Ajay Wakhloo along with Zonal Sales Manager Foregen Healthcare Limited, Vinod Rajpurohit donated and handed over 16 Sanitary Pad vending machines to the Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan, in presence of Principal GMC Doda Dr Puja Vimesh, yesterday in his office at DC office complex for the government schools in the district to improve the menstrual hygiene of the girl students. 

It was informed that 34 more vending machines shall be sent to the district in the first instance followed by more such machines to saturate all the high schools and above in the district. The Sanitary Pads Vending machines being provided to the district are refillable and dispenses one pad at a time on pressing the button.

 

 While speaking on the occasion, DC Doda said that the District Administration is working on engaging women SHGs to make indigenous pads and pad vending machines for the schools. He further said that an intensive awareness regarding menstrual hygiene and changing the negative social norms around menstrual health management has already been taken up through Mission Shakti and other women agencies and SHGs, in the district.

 

It is pertinent to mention here that lack of menstrual hygiene management is affecting the studies and attendance in schools of girl students, especially in the rural areas, in addition to the health problems being faced by them.
