*DHS Doda celebrates World TB Day.* _Awareness, Public Cooperation and Active surveillance/Testing/ Treatment only mantra to eradicate the TB from the society-DC_

Doda, Mar 24: District Health Society (DHS) Doda celebrated World Tuberculosis Day at Community Hall Doda with general awareness and colourful programme showcasing the need to fight the disease to eliminate it from our society.

 

The theme of this year World Tuberculosis Day is Yes- We can end Tb. Union government has launched National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) with the set target to eliminate TB from the County by 2025. The day is being celebrated to create awareness on the dreaded yet curable disease, TB. The programme began with an awareness lectures,  debates, Pledge, Speeches and Skit by the students of AMT School Doda and some practitioners.

 

District Tuberculosis Officer/ District Immunization Officer Doda, Dr Varsha Sharma gave a detailed presentation on the initiatives of the Government through NTEP to illuminate TB from the country and steps taken by the District Administration in this regard. 

She informed that various facilities are available for TB diagnosis in the hospitals, and that people should not take symptoms of TB lightly. She also informed that the medicines and diagnostic tests are free,  and patients with symptoms must visit our TB centers to get the right treatment to get rid of the disease.

 

Addressing the participants, DC Doda Vishesh Mahajan who is also Chairman District Tuberculosis Control Society, opined that new cases from some parts of the district are due to lack of proper dissemination of information, and suggested creating more awareness in the district to fight TB.  He also appealed to the people to cooperate with the health department to eradicate TB as per the target set by the government to make India TB-free by 2025. Later on, certificates among the best performing Health practitioner, and students who participated in the programme were distributed. Some medicine kits were also distributed in the programme among the  patients.

 

The programme was managed by CMO Doda and DTO/ DIO Dr Varsha Sharma and attended by ADC Doda Dr R K Bharti, SE JPDCL Bishan Das, CMO Doda Dr Hamid Zargar, CAO Anil Gupta, DIO DIPR Doda Mohd Ashraf Wani, 

DSWO Doda Tariq Qazi, MS Associated Hospital GMC Doda Dr Yudhvir, Dy CMO Doda Dr Rakesh, Doctors, Health workers, and Students of AMT School Doda.
